Model 1876 Prairie Belt
This cartridge belt has 54 woven cartridge loops.
We have 2 specimens of this prairie belt. The first is marked on the back of the leather tongue "T.C.". The front of the tongue is marked "WATERVLIET" "ARSENAL" in 2 lines, and "A.R. SMITH". The back of the belt is written in script "Jno Sullivan" "6/24/98 Co. d. 1st Fla." in 2 lines.
The second is marked on the front of the tongue "WATERVLIET "ARSENAL" in 2 lines, and "A.R. SMITH". The back of the belt is stenciled "M. 2nd GA. 91".
The next 2 photos are of a woven cartridge belt. There are 45 loops. The buckle has no markings. Any help identifying this belt would be appreciated.
